So much of the discussion around emotional labor that women do revolves around the labor we do for men. It’s not an unfounded discussion. I can rattle off names of men whose lives my labor has enhanced. I can just as easily rattle off names of other women who’ve done the same for other men. There is no question that women provide invaluable emotional labor for men.

“Where are all the good men?” The search for the elusive “good man” is entertaining to me. It’s a trick question. “Good men” don’t exist and the sooner we all grasp that, the better we’ll all be for it.
